Our take · based on published features

Is Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer (Gen 2) right for you?

A practical shortlist for hands-free photos, calls and spoken AI assistance when you do not need a screen in the lens.

A good fit if…

  • You want to capture short first-person clips without taking out your phone.
  • You prefer open-ear music, calls and voice responses to reading a display.

Limits to check

  • Gen 2 has no in-lens display: it cannot serve as a movie screen or visual teleprompter.
  • Ray-Ban quotes up to eight hours of moderate use, or five hours of continuous audio and voice assistance; these are manufacturer estimates.
  • AI features depend on supported countries and languages. Check your intended feature before buying.

What your setup needs

  • Pair a supported iPhone or Android phone through the Meta AI app; a Meta account and wireless internet access are required.
  • Check the exact phone against Ray-Ban’s supported-phone list. A phone’s operating-system version alone does not confirm compatibility.
  • The charging case is included. Plan for USB-C power to charge it, and select the right frame size and lens option.

Plan the full cost

Compare the full lens configuration, including prescription or Transitions upgrades. Gen 2 remains listed alongside newer Ray-Ban models, so compare the exact generation before checkout.
