1. Who controls your data

This notice applies to smartglassesinsights.com. Although the editorial audience is primarily in the United States, the site operator is based in Germany and processes personal data under applicable European and German data-protection law.

2. Data processed when you visit

To deliver and secure the website, the hosting and application systems may process the requested URL, date and time, referrer, browser and operating-system information, response status, and IP address. These records are used for availability, error analysis, abuse prevention, and security. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

We use EU-hosted infrastructure provided by Hetzner Online GmbH. Hetzner processes the connection data needed to provide and protect the service on our behalf. Operational logs are kept only for as long as they are needed for security, fault analysis, and legal obligations, and are then deleted or anonymized.

3. Cookies and consent choices

A necessary consent cookie stores your selected categories, the time of your choice, and the consent version for 180 days. This lets the site remember your choice. Optional preference, analytics, or marketing functions are permitted only after the corresponding consent and only when such a function is configured.

You can reopen the consent settings from the footer and withdraw optional consent for the future. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

4. Optional analytics

Analytics is currently disabled: no analytics measurement property is configured and the site does not load an analytics script. Selecting the analytics category records your preference but does not activate an unconfigured service.

If we introduce analytics in the future, we will update this notice with the provider and processing details and request consent before the service loads. The legal basis for any optional analytics would be consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and applicable cookie law).

5. Newsletter

If you subscribe, we process your email address, confirmation status and timestamps, user-agent information, and secure confirmation/unsubscribe tokens. Unconfirmed subscriptions expire after 24 hours. Confirmed contact data is retained until you unsubscribe or another legal basis requires limited further retention.

The newsletter uses a double-opt-in flow and Brevo (Sendinblue SAS) as the email service provider. Brevo receives the data needed to manage subscriptions and deliver messages. The legal basis for the subscription is your consent. Open and click measurement is disabled in the current newsletter configuration. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe method. 6. Service providers and other recipients

We give service providers only the data they need for their task. The relevant providers for the processing described above are our hosting provider, Hetzner Online GmbH, and, if you subscribe to the newsletter, Brevo (Sendinblue SAS). They process data on our behalf. We may also disclose data where the law requires it or where it is necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. We do not sell personal data.

7. Affiliate and external links

When you follow a link to a manufacturer, retailer, or affiliate partner, that third party receives the normal connection data and may process information under its own privacy notice. We do not set third-party affiliate tracking merely by displaying a catalog entry; processing begins when you choose to visit the external service, unless a clearly described consent-based integration is added later.

8. Your rights

Subject to the legal requirements, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; the competent authority for the operator is generally the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA).

9. Security, retention, and changes

We use access controls, encrypted transport, updates, backups, and other proportionate safeguards. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. We retain personal data only while needed for the stated purpose, legal obligations, or the defense of legal claims.

We will update this notice when services or processing materially change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
